About Dr. Ravi Kumar, MD
Dr. Ravi Kumar is a board-certified neurosurgeon and an assistant professor of neurosurgery at the University of North Carolina. He earned his MD from Texas A&M University College of Medicine in 2010 and completed his neurosurgery residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, in 2017. He has trained and operated in the highest-stakes corner of clinical care, where the difference between what the evidence says and what actually helps a patient is not academic.
The Dr. Kumar Discovery grew out of a simple frustration: most health information the public sees is either watered-down, wrong, or sold. Dr. Kumar started this platform to do the opposite, to read the primary research himself and translate what it genuinely shows, including when the honest answer is “we don’t know yet.”

My mission
At The Dr. Kumar Discovery, I strive to:
- Bridge the gap between peer-reviewed research and practical health decisions.
- Report what a new study or health story actually shows, and what it doesn’t.
- Weigh traditional wisdom honestly against modern evidence, favoring neither by default.
- Challenge medical dogma while staying rigorously grounded in data.
- Make complex science understandable without dumbing it down.
Our editorial standards
Health information is a matter of trust, and we treat it that way.
- Evidence first. Claims are grounded in peer-reviewed research or authoritative primary sources, and those sources are cited and linked so you can check them yourself. We do not publish numbers we cannot trace to a source, and we do not invent data.
- Physician reviewed. Every article is reviewed, fact-checked, and edited by Dr. Ravi Kumar, MD, a board-certified neurosurgeon, before it is published.
- Modern tools, human judgment. We use research tools, including AI, to help surface and summarize the studies behind a story, but a board-certified physician writes, reviews, and is accountable for every published word. The medical judgment and the final sign-off are always human, never automated.
- Corrections. If we get something wrong, we fix it and note the update. To flag an error, contact us.
- No hidden agenda. We don’t publish sponsored claims disguised as editorial, and we tell you when something is uncertain or contested.
